User Presence Detection in Smartroom Based on Tracking the Network Activity

MSc. S. Marchenkov (presenter), Dr. D. Korzun (Petrozavodsk State University, Russia).

The SmartRoom system provides a set of digital services to support collaborative activities of participants, which are physically presented in a common room. The service intelligence is due to the use of diverse sources with information on ongoing processes in the room. One important source is information on physical user presence and network activity of the participants. In this paper, we consider the problem of creating such an information source. We employ the known Innorange technology, which proprietary implements a method of passive radio detection in WLAN. We define scenarios for the use of Innorange technology in the SmartRoom system. We propose integration solution based on the Smart-M3 platform. The implemented software prototype is experimentally studied for the performance.
