Intensive guest course "Introduction to mobile programming on Symbian operating system"

Guest lecturer Marko Hassinen (Department of Computer Science, University of Kuopio, Finland) will lecture the course Introduction to mobile programming on Symbian operating system at 10.-15.5.2006. The course is mainly intended for third-, fourth- and fifth-year students as well as for master students. The course is graded by using pass/fail basis. Registration to the course is needed (available in room 215).

Course description

Introduction to mobile programming on Symbian operating system. Mainly the course will focus on how to program applications for mobile phones with the series 60 Symbian operating system. The core substance includes an introduction to programming and deploying applications on the Symbian platform. Graphical user interfaces are created for applications, which communicate with the outside world using, for example, TCP/IP. Applications are tested with emulators and in some cases with real devices. Previous knowledge of the C/C++ programming language is essential.
